Welcome To The Jungle Shoot Put On The Back Burner Amid Financial Troubles

Akshay Kumar’s much-hyped comedy film Welcome To The Jungle seems to be going through a tough time, with its shoot currently stalled due to financial setbacks. Though filming began in December 2023, very little has moved forward since. In fact, the last time the cast was on set was back in August 2023, and since then, the project has been on a long pause. A major portion of the movie still remains to be shot, leaving the future of this big-budget entertainer hanging in the balance.

According to a report, payments for the ensemble cast including several big names are still pending. This financial uncertainty has led to multiple delays. A source close to the production revealed, “Around two to three schedules of Welcome To The Jungle have been cancelled over the last six months, leaving the actors and their team confused about the prospects. The actors have been allotting dates for the shoot of Welcome To The Jungle to producer Firoz Nadiadwala, and the same stands cancelled at the last minute due to logistical and financial issues.”

The same source added that not only are actors awaiting their fees, but even their support staff haven’t been paid yet. Some actors who were originally cast have reportedly exited the project. However, several others are continuing to support the film because of their affection for the franchise. As the source explained, “There are also issues of non-payment of dues to the actors and their staff. Some of the originally cast actors have left the film, and the remaining are still lending their support for the love of the franchise. They all believe that Welcome is a loved franchise and are willing to adjust their dates to finish Welcome To The Jungle.”

A Hindi media outlet has claimed that Akshay Kumar owns an 80 percent stake in the film, with the remaining 20 percent split between Firoz Nadiadwala and others involved. So far, Nadiadwala hasn’t made any public statements regarding the matter. The film was officially announced in September 2023 on Akshay’s 56th birthday, and features a massive star cast including Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Jacqueline Fernandez, and many more. Directed by Ahmed Khan, it was initially scheduled to hit theatres on December 20, 2024—but with things on pause, the release date now seems uncertain.
