Exclusive: R Madhavan On Not Playing A ‘Young Hero’ In Aap Jaisa Koi
The makers have recently announced the release date for Aap Jaisa Koi, starring R Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh in leading roles. The movie is releasing on July 11, 2025. During an exclusive interview with Filmfare, Madhavan shared details about the project, his character and how GenZs and Gen Alphas can relate to it.
He further added, “How does it work out between GenZs and Gen Alphas? It’s a very interesting story.” Emphasising on the movie’s plot, Madhavan noted that he is satisfied to be playing an ‘age-appropriate’ role. “I’m happy because it’s age appropriate. I’m not trying to play a young hero. I’m playing my age. I think it’s come out really well. So I’m keeping my fingers crossed,” he added.
The movie’s synopsis notes that R Madhavan will play the role of Shrirenu, a reserved Sanskrit teacher, and Fatima Sana Shaikh will be seen as Madhu, a spirited French instructor. Madhavan is returning to the romance genre with this project. He was recently seen in Shaitaan, Kesari: Chapter 2 and more.
The makers have shared a new poster of the movie, where the new lovebirds, played by Madhavan and Fatima, are seen looking at each other in a lovey-dovey manner. They captioned the post as, “This love story has been waiting for Aap Jaisa Koi… Watch Madhavan and Fatima find love in Aap Jaisa Koi, out 11 July, only on Netflix.” It has been directed by Vivek Soni.
