Gaurav Gupta’s new collection pays tribute to fire survivors

Gaurav Gupta has done wonders with his designs again! The designer has launched his Spring-Summer 2025 collection which details his wife Navkirat Sodhi’s recovery after an unfortunate fire accident.

The collection, titled Across the Flames reflects a traumatic incident that he and his partner experienced last year. In 2024, the designer’s atelier in Delhi was engulfed in flames. Navkirat was severely injured. The trauma deeply impacted the couple but their resilience brought about this collection.

In a social media post, Gupta wrote, “One of the most life-changing experiences happened with us about 8 months ago. We were in a fire accident…” Sodhi suffered 55% burns and was in the ICU for 2.5 months. Doctors gave her a 50% chance of survival. “She is a fighter and survivor…she is a goddess.” Sodhi added, “There’s nothing more precious than to be alive… and that is enough.”

The couple walked the ramp together, as Sodhi flaunted her burns and scars from the fire. She walked the ramp barefoot while donning a cream-coloured draped corset gown.

The closing look attracted eyeballs. It presented an embellished black gown with a sculptural drape that cascaded to the floor. The black in Gaurav’s new designs represent the burns from the fire accident while white, cream, or grey areas represent recovery.
