‘The Baldwins’ Reality Series: First-Look Trailer Touches on ‘Rust’ Tragedy, Gives Glimpse Inside Family’s Private Lives
TLC has released more details about its new reality series The Baldwins, focusing on the lives of Alec and Hilaria Baldwin and their family, including a first-look trailer.
The network says the series “blends the highs and lows of family life, with the challenges and humor that come while raising a large family in the public eye.”
The official logline via TLC: “Throughout the season, The Baldwinswill feature hilarious moments around the dinner table to candid discussions about mental health and their ever-evolving parenting style. The series shows what life is really like for the Baldwins — chaotic, funny, exhausting and filled with love. Alec and Hilaria’s dynamic as a couple will also take center stage, with moments that showcase their deep partnership as they navigate challenges hand in hand. With seven children in tow, the Baldwin household is never short on activity, but through it all, Alec and Hilaria embrace the madness with an infectious energy, showing viewers the beauty of raising a family that’s anything but ordinary.”
The trailer, released Monday, starts out with Hilaria noting that their “wild family” consists of “seven children, six animals and two parents.” It then shows more lighthearted moments around the Baldwin household, including Alec telling his kids, “Don’t pee in that pool!” and one of their daughters giving him a facial.

According to TLC, in the premiere episode, “Alec and Hilaria celebrate their oldest son Rafael’s ninth birthday and, in a bid to escape the noise of the city, they head to East Hampton to continue a yearly summer tradition. But in the midst of celebration is uncertainty as Alec faces trial. Alec and Hilaria navigate the emotional complexities of the moment, all while keeping their children’s lives as stable as possible.”
That, of course, is a reference to the tragedy on the set of Alec’s film Rust. In 2021, the actor was rehearsing a scene for the movie on-set in New Mexicowhen a gun he was holding discharged. It wasn’t supposed to have live ammo, but a bullet fired and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza was injured.
Alec was indicted, but the case was ultimately dismissed. He has said he didn’t pull the trigger.
Hutchins’ survivors include a young son. In the Baldwins trailer, Hilaria references the tragedy.
“A son lost his mom in the most unthinkable tragedy,” she says. “This is never something to forget … and we’re trying to parent through it.”
Baldwin later is seen getting emotional in clips from the show. He tells Hilaria, “Honestly, from the bottom of my soul. I don’t know where I’d be if I didn’t have you and these kids.”
The trailer also shows one of their kids spotting a paparazzo, with Hilaria telling her son to “ignore him.” It continues with her saying: “We’ve had bad moments, but we found our foundation. We’re solid, and we’re here together.
Said the couple in a statement: “This series gives viewers a glimpse into our lives as a family — the good, bad, wild and everything in between. We hope viewers will connect with our experiences and the love we share. Filming the show has been an amazing journey, and we’re proud to have TLC as a partner in telling our story.”
Added TLC president Howard Lee: “TLC has always been a platform for compelling stories. With The Baldwins, viewers gain an unprecedented look into Alec and Hilaria Baldwin’s family journey. As they navigate parenthood, marriage and life under the spotlight, the series blends moments of joy, chaos and sincerity offering a genuine portrayal beyond the headlines.”
