‘You’ Season 5 Teaser Sees Penn Badgley Going “Back to Where It Began”
Joe Goldberg is going back to his roots for the fifth and final season of Netflix‘s You.
On Thursday, the streamer dropped the first teaser and release date for the upcoming season, led by Penn Badgley.
You follows Joe Goldberg, a dangerously charming, intensely obsessive young man who goes to extreme — and sometimes fatal — measures to insert himself into the lives of those he is transfixed by. “In the epic fifth and final season, Joe Goldberg returns to New York to enjoy his happily ever after… until his perfect life is threatened by the ghosts of his past and his own dark desires,” the show’s official logline reads.
In the new footage, Goldberg’s past and current love interests make an appearance, including Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail), Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti), Marienne Bellamy (Tati Gabrielle) and Kate Lockwood (Charlotte Ritchie). However, not without complications.

“Hello, you. Do you remember me? Because I remember you,” Badgley says in a voiceover. “Here we are together again, back to where it began. A lot has happened these many years together: identities, cities, loves, complications.”
He continues, “But all that led me here, to now, to where I was always meant to be. And the one constant, the one thing that has always been there for me, is you. You, who have been there the whole time and will be there with me to the end. Goodbye, you.”
This season’s cast also includes Madeline Brewer, Anna Camp and Griffin Matthews. Michael Foley and Justin Lo served as co-showrunners for season five, with Greg Berlanti, Sera Gamble, Badgley, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Leslie Morgenstein, Gina Girolamo, Marcos Siega and Neil Reynolds executive producing.
