Sunny Sanskari vs Kantara Chapter 1: Varun-Janhvi film trails in advance booking

Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan’s romantic comedy, ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ is all set to open with more than Rs 2 crore business on its opening day. The upcoming film has so far collected over Rs 1 crore in its advance booking.

The Shashank Khaitan directorial is likely to have a decent start, going by the advance bookings for Day 1, collecting Rs 1.40 crore (without block seats) across India, as reported by Sacnilk. The film is set to open with a collection of Rs 2.56 crore (with block seats) in India, the report stated. Block seats are typically held back from public sale and are reserved for purposes such as last-minute bookings, promotions, or specific studio schemes.

So far, 36,535 tickets have been sold for Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, and it has managed to get 3,776 shows across India. Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari will clash with ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’, which has already earned over Rs 18 crore via advance booking. The Rishab Shetty directorial, backed by Hombale Films, is co-produced by Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda. Apart from Shetty, it also features Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah and Jayaram in key roles.

The film narrates the complex story of Sunny Sanskar and Tulsi Kumar, played by Varun and Janhvi respectively. Varun’s character is shown as lovestruck, fixated on winning over Ananya (played by Sanya Malhotra), with plans to propose to her. Actor Rohit Saraf portrays the character of Janhvi’s ex Vikram. The story further leads to a comedy-of-errors with Varun falling for Janhvi, adding to the conflict.

‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ is backed by Dharma Productions and Mentor Disciple Entertainment and is co-produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Adar Poonawalla, Shashank Khaitan.

The film will theatrically release alongside ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ on October 2, 2025.
