Sunny Sanskari: Kissing scene trimmed, anti-alcohol disclaimer added

The upcoming romantic comedy ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’, featuring Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf, has received a U/A 13+ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The clearance came after the board recommended a few minor edits to the film.

As per Bollywood Hungama, the censor board required two major changes before clearing the film. The first was muting the word ‘guard,’ used in a scene where Varun Dhawan’s character attempts to disguise a slur. The second involved reducing kissing scenes by roughly 60 per cent.

The board also asked the producers to include an anti-alcohol disclaimer.

Following these edits, the film received its final clearance. The censor certificate lists the runtime at 135 minutes and 45 seconds, or 2 hours, 15 minutes, and 45 seconds. Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the film stars Varun Dhawan alongside Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Maniesh Paul, Akshay Oberoi, and Abhinav Sharma.

Meanwhile, advance bookings for the film have started steadily. Reports indicate that by Monday, approximately 9,200 tickets had been sold across major national chains. Trade experts predict the number could reach 50,000 before release day, with opening collections estimated between Rs 10.50–12.50 crore. The film’s success will largely depend on audience response over the holiday weekend.

Backed by Dharma Productions and Mentor Disciple Entertainment, the Shashank Khaitan directorial is set to hit theatres on October 2. The film will clash with Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ in theatres.
