“Before Their Wedding, Virat Kohli Would Come to Anushka Sharma’s House” – Vivek Agnihotri
Some celebrity couples choose to keep their relationships private, while others are more open about it. Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma initially kept their relationship discreet. However, they later acknowledged their love publicly. In 2017, Virat and Anushka were married in a private ceremony in Italy. Interestingly, children in the neighbourhood near Anushka’s house would become excited whenever Virat visited before their marriage. Seven years after Virat and Anushka’s wedding, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has now shared some details about their relationship.
During his recent appearance on The Raunac Podcast, Vivek Agnihotri shared that he was, in fact, a neighbour of Anushka Sharma. He said, “Anushka Sharma was my neighbour back then. We lived in the same society, we moved out and they must have too… but her father is still a great friend of mine.” He added, “Much before their wedding, Virat would often come to her house, to meet her. Children in our street used to go crazy. They would run behind his car in fondness. That is the only memory I have of him. I have never met him personally. Also, I am not too much into cricket, I never find time between my work. I have been busy.”

Seven years later, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma seem to be enjoying their blissful life together in London. They were recently seen interacting with fans on the streets. After their dreamy wedding in Italy, the couple welcomed their first child in January 2021. They were blessed with a daughter, whom they named Vamika. In February 2024, Anushka and Virat happily announced the birth of their second child, Akaay.
On the work front, Vivek Agnihotri is busy promoting his upcoming film which he has directed, The Bengal Files, which stars Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi, Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, and Saswata Chatterjee among others. The film has faced some problems even before its release. During the trailer launch at a Kolkata hotel on 16 August, which was initially planned at a movie theatre, the screening was abruptly halted by Kolkata Police. In response, Vivek Agnihotri gave a statement heavily criticizing the West Bengal Government for halting the screening for political reasons.
