Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi Face Court Notice Ahead of Jolly LLB 3’s Release

Actors Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, along with director Subhash Kapoor, have found themselves facing legal trouble ahead of the release of their much-anticipated film Jolly LLB 3. A Pune civil court has issued summons to the trio following a petition by lawyer Wajed Rahim Khan, who claimed that the film disrespects the judiciary. The court has ordered them to be present in person on October 28 at 11 a.m. to respond to the complaint.

According to advocate Khan, the film mocks the legal system and portrays the profession in poor light. He pointed out one particular instance where judges are referred to as “mama,” a slang word he believes is disrespectful and undermines the dignity of the courts. While speaking to ANI, Khan emphasized that advocates and judges should be shown with respect, adding that such portrayals can influence how the public perceives the justice system.

The issue first came to light in 2024 after the film’s teaser was unveiled. The teaser introduced audiences to the face-off between Akshay and Arshad, who return as rival lawyers in this third instalment. However, along with the excitement, the teaser also drew criticism from sections of the legal community, ultimately leading to Khan’s petition. The controversy has since reignited with the court now formally summoning the actors and director.

Despite the legal hurdle, Jolly LLB 3 remains one of the most awaited releases of the year. The franchise has enjoyed strong success in the past, with the first film in 2013 turning into a sleeper hit and the 2017 sequel crossing the Rs 200 crore mark globally. Now, with both Akshay and Arshad coming together for the first time in the series, expectations are running high. Produced by Star Studio 18 and helmed by Subhash Kapoor, the film is slated to hit theatres on September 19, 2025.
