“Social Media or Social Pressure” – Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Urges Women to Not Seek Validation Online
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan recently spoke about social media pressure and urged women not to go searching for their self-worth elsewhere. The actress, who has a limited presence on social media, shared a powerful monologue as a part of a commercial for a brand she endorses. She said, “I’m worth it, but what really decides that? The kind of pictures posted? The number of likes? Or is it the comments on social media? We have given such power to these things. The power to own our worth. There’s not much difference between social media and social pressure.”

She explained that as a woman and a mother, it concerns her a lot. “As a woman and a mother, it’s a matter of grave concern to think about the power it can have over young minds. Frankly, even impressionable adults.” She further stated, “This cannot go on. We must make a choice. Let’s not go searching for our self-worth elsewhere, certainly not on social media. The only like that matters is the one that you give yourself. Worth is innate, so look within. Look at yourself in the mirror and say, ‘I’m worth it’ and most importantly, believe it.” Aishwarya Rai Bachchan married Abhishek Bachchan in 2007 and welcomed their daughter Aaradhya a couple of years after that. Some time back, Abhishek also spoke about keeping their daughter away from social media.

He said, “She is not on any social media, and doesn’t have a phone also. I think she is brought up to be a very conscientious girl, and I think that’s also a testimony to her individually. I don’t want to take away from her what she is personally. She is who she is, and she is turning out to be a wonderful little lady. She is the pride and joy of the family. So yeah, we are blessed.” On the work front, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan.
