Love Story of a Vampire! Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thama Teaser Is Out

The Maddock Supernatural Universe has another addition with the upcoming romantic film Thama, which has elements of horror and comedy, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Paresh Rawal, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film’s makers recently shared the first look through a teaser on social media. Ayushmann Khurrana will be playing Alok, while Rashmika Mandanna takes on the role of Tadaka, Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays Yakshasan, and Paresh Rawal plays Ram Bajaj Goyal.

The teaser begins by showcasing the chemistry between Ayushmann and Rashmika, suggesting they are lovers meant to be. These visuals establish the plot for what seems to be a touching story of love. However, the entry of Nawazuddin Siddiqui hints at something more intense and bloodier.

During a previous interview with Zoom, Thama’s director, Aditya Sarpotdar, mentioned, “Thama is a love story. As you have seen all the other films in the Maddock Universe or the Stree World, this is very different and not a pure horror-comedy. It is a romantic comedy film with certain supernatural elements backing it. Vampire is a supernatural element; it is a love story between a human and a vampire. The larger genre is comedy, so it is fun and a love story through the lens of Maddock Universe. Stree, Bhediya and Munjya were front-footed horror that created that sense of fear. This is more of a romantic film. We felt enough horror comedies were delivered at Maddock, we wanted to deviate a bit but stay in the world by exploring other genres as well.” 

He added, “Thama is wider . Munjya was more local because it was married to a folklorish character, and it came from the heartland of Konkan, where Munjya was known to be from. As Munjya was folklorish, Thama has mythical references. More than folklore, it draws references from mythical characters, and because of this, you will understand how things come together.” 

Thama is slated to release this Diwali, with fans already excited for this new story in the now exciting Maddock universe.
