Exclusive: Shreya Ghoshal Shares an Interesting Story About Her Aashiqui 2 Track Sun Raha Hai

In the recent episode of In the Ring with Filmfare, Shreya Ghoshal opened up about the way she approaches her songs and why she often feels the need to revisit a track even after recording it. Over the years, she shared, her standing in the industry has allowed her to request a final listen before the release, something she could not always do earlier in her career.

When asked if there were moments where she felt a difference of opinion with composers, she said, “I keep doing it every day. This is my routine. Now, people give me a little respect, so I speak a little calmly, please, before releasing, can you send it to me? Because what happens after a song is released, everyone vanishes. And then I have to wait till the song actually releases to hear it.”

She went on to explain how duets can be tricky since singers often record separately. She said, “Sometimes the co-singer is not even cast when I am singing. But I want to hear it. If it is Sonu ji, then I would sing it in a certain way so that it matches his style. If it is Arijit, then it has to align with his improvisations. I at least take the charge that I have to hear it once. If it does not sound right, then I will sing it again.”

Sharing a memorable example, Shreya recalled one of her popular songs from Aashiqui 2 which she ended up recording twice. She said, “I had sung it once, and I had sung it very well, with my emotions and improvisations, I had filled it all up. Then I got a call from Mukesh ji, saying the girl in the film is very new, so you have to sing it like you don’t know it, very raw. So, I did that, and while the film version worked beautifully, when I sing it live, I make it my own with my improvisations.”
