Sunny Deol roars in Border 2 Independence Day poster, release date out
On the occasion of India’s 79th Independence Day, the makers of Sunny Deol’s ‘Border 2’ have unveiled the first poster of the highly anticipated war drama, marking a powerful tribute to the nation’s armed forces. The film, inspired by true stories, is slated for a theatrical release on January 22, 2026, just ahead of Republic Day, promising a patriotic cinematic experience over the extended weekend.
The poster features Sunny Deol in his iconic soldier avatar, reminiscent of his unforgettable role in the original ‘Border’. Dressed in combat gear and wielding a bazooka, Deol stands as a fierce symbol of duty and patriotism, reigniting the spirit that made ‘Border’ a landmark in Indian cinema.

Directed by Anurag Singh, ‘Border 2’ brings together a star-studded ensemble including Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Medha Rana, Mona Singh, and Sonam Bajwa. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, and presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series in association with JP Dutta’s JP Films.
Speaking about the announcement, producer Bhushan Kumar said, “‘Border’ is more than a film, it’s an emotion for every Indian. With ‘Border 2’, we aim to carry that legacy forward for a new generation.”
Producer Nidhi Dutta added, “We return with the same passion and a fresh story, a heartfelt salute to our armed forces that promises to evoke pride and emotion once again.”
Director Anurag Singh noted the symbolism of the announcement date: “Independence Day reminds us of the sacrifices made for our freedom, so does this film. It’s an honour to share this story with the world.”
The film hits theatres January 22, 2026.
