Paris Berelc, Luke Benward’s Comedy ‘Miss Valentine’ Sets Fall Release (Exclusive)

A comedy feature starring Paris Berelc and Luke Benward is aiming to warm viewers’ hearts this fall.

Xumo Play has acquired director Blayne Weaver’s film Miss Valentine, with the movie set for limited theatrical release Oct. 1 while also debuting on the free ad-supported streaming service, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. Hailing from Capital Arts Entertainment and the Film Studio at Shenandoah, Miss Valentine will stream on Xumo Play’s “Her” channel that can be viewed on the streaming devices Xumo Stream Box and Xumo TV and via an app on other major streaming platforms.

Miss Valentine centers on Samantha (Berelc), who carries the baggage of having had an onstage meltdown after winning her hometown’s Miss Valentine pageant as a teen. Years later, she returns home following a painful breakup and finds that things are much different for her this time around.

The cast includes Berelc (Do Revenge), Benward (Dumplin’), Marilu Henner (Taxi), Enrico Colantoni (Veronica Mars), Karen Maruyama (The Campaign), Pete Gardner (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Ali Astin (The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King) and Kate Flannery (The Office).

Weaver (6 Month Rule) helmed the film from a script by Patricia Harrington (Santa Girl). Weaver, Joseph P. Genier, Mike Elliott, Paul DiFranco, Karen Gorodetzky and Steve Nerangis serve as producers.

“I’m so excited about Miss Valentine playing on Xumo, where millions of people will be able to enjoy this funny romantic comedy,” says Weaver. “Known mostly for her work as a child actor, Paris Berelc is a breakout star in this film. Her chemistry with Luke Benward is palpable, and I am so proud of the ensemble cast we have built around them.”
