Mrunal Thakur addresses dating rumours with Dhanush

It is now pretty common for dating rumours to go around when actors collaborate on a project. However, recently, such speculation has extended to instances where celebrities simply appear together. A recent example of this involves Mrunal Thakur and Dhanush. Dating rumours began earlier this month at the premiere of Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur’s comedy film Son of Sardaar 2, where Dhanush, an unexpected guest, made a stylish entrance. Mrunal greeted him warmly with a side hug before Dhanush continued to the red carpet for photographs. This led to speculation that Dhanush attended specifically to meet and support Mrunal. Mrunal, on the other hand, has come up with a clarification.

After the video went viral, Mrunal Thakur has clarified that she and Dhanush are not involved romantically. Mrunal also disclosed who extended the invitation to Dhanush for the Son of Sardaar 2 premiere. In an interview with Only Kollywood, Mrunal shared, “Dhanush is just a good friend to me. I’m aware that a lot of news has been circulating about the two of us being linked together recently. I just found it funny when I saw it. Dhanush attended the Son of Sardaar 2 event. No one should misunderstand that. It was Ajay Devgn who invited him.”

Dhanush was previously married to Aishwarya Rajinikanth, a filmmaker and playback singer,  daughter of the renowned superstar Rajinikanth. The couple shared news of their separation in 2022, and their divorce was finalized on November 27, 2024. Dhanush and Aishwarya are parents to two sons, Yatra and Linga. Mrunal is the first actress Dhanush has been associated with since his divorce last year. On the work front, Dhanush is currently involved in three upcoming projects: the Tamil film Idly Kadai, Aanand L. Rai’s Tere Ishk Mein, where he will star alongside Kriti Sanon, and D54, which will be directed by Vignesh Raja. Meanwhile, Mrunal is set to appear in Dacoit: A Love Story, and she also has Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, featuring Varun Dhawan and Pooja Hegde, slated for release in 2026.
