Saiyaara Overtakes Sultan and Padmaavat at The Box Office
Saiyaara has achieved remarkable success, marking a notable achievement for Ahaan Panday, Aneet Padda, and director Mohit Suri, and has become one of the most talked about films in Bollywood. Having earned Rs 302.25 crore in only 18 days, Saiyaara has now become the 16th highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, overtaking the earnings of successful films such as Padmaavat and Sultan.
The film’s release on its first Friday saw a solid collection of Rs 21.5 crore, yet it was the weekend that hugely boosted its success. Earning Rs 26 crore on Saturday and Rs 35.75 crore on Sunday, Saiyaara achieved a remarkable Rs 172.75 crore during its opening week, marking one of the most outstanding debut weeks in recent times.

Although a typical drop was seen during the second week, the collections remained consistent, reaching Rs 107.75 crore. The third weekend saw the consistency return, with good numbers on Saturday (Rs 6.75 crore) and Sunday (Rs 8 crore), and even Monday maintained a respectable performance at Rs 2.5 crore, bringing the 18-day total to Rs 302.25 crore.
Having crossed the Rs 300 crore mark, Saiyaara has overtaken the box office achievements of films such as Padmaavat, starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Shahid Kapoor (Rs 302.15 crore), and Sultan, featuring Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma (Rs 300.45 crore).

If the film maintains its momentum into its fourth weekend, it may potentially compete with films like War, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and Tiger Zinda Hai. The film’s success also marks a good comeback for director Mohit Suri, whose previous works had received a less enthusiastic response. With Saiyaara, he returns to the emotional storytelling that defined his earlier hits like Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain.
In a year filled with large-scale productions, Saiyaara has proved that new talent, good music, and emotional storytelling can still achieve box office success.
For Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, this achievement firmly establishes them in Bollywood, and for Hindi cinema, it brings back the audience’s love and appreciation for emotional rom-coms.
