Exclusive: Neeru Bajwa Breaks Down Her Character in Upcoming Thriller Tehran

Neeru Bajwa is all set to break new ground with Tehran, a high-stakes action thriller that dives deep into global politics and human emotions. Starring alongside John Abraham and Manushi Chhillar, the film marks a big shift for Neeru, who takes on a character that’s fierce, grounded, and emotionally complex.

Talking about what pulled her towards the project, Neeru said, “Tehran is unlike anything I’ve done before. It’s a gripping story that’s not just action-packed but also emotionally intense and politically layered. What really got me was how strong and clear my character is—she stands her ground and stays true to herself, even when everything around her is falling apart.”

She went on to add, “It means a lot to play a woman who is guided by her values and isn’t afraid to fight for what she believes in. Tehran doesn’t just aim to entertain—it really makes you think. And that’s what I love about it. It’s bold, relevant, and unapologetically real.” She also mentioned, “The film doesn’t try to dress things up. It’s raw and honest—and I think people will really feel that.”

Directed by Arun Gopalan and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Shobhna Yadav, and Sandeep Leyzell, Tehran is inspired by real events and is all set to premiere on ZEE5 on August 14, right before Independence Day. With its mix of action, drama, and real-world relevance, it’s one of the most talked-about releases of the season.

Neeru was last seen in Son of Sardaar 2, where she starred alongside Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur. The film hit theatres just last week and is doing fairly well at the box office. With Tehran lined up next, Neeru continues to take on stories that are not only powerful but also leave a lasting impact.
