‘Long Story Short’ From ‘BoJack Horseman’ Creator Lands Season 2 Renewal Ahead of Series Premiere

BoJack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg has a new animated Netflix comedy, and Long Story Short is here to stay — for a little while at least.

On Thursday, Long Story Short earned an early season two renewal, announced ahead of the series premiere; Netflix also release season one’s trailer.

Long Story Short follows one family over time. “Jumping through the years, we follow the Schwooper siblings from childhood to adulthood and back again, chronicling their triumphs, disappointments, joys, and compromises,” the logline reads.

The cast includes Lisa Edelstein as Naomi Schwartz, Paul Reiser as Elliott Cooper, Ben Feldman as Avi Schwooper, Abbi Jacobson as Shira Schwooper, Max Greenfield as Yoshi Schwooper, Angelique Cabral as Jen, Nicole Byer as Kendra Hooper and recurring guests Dave Franco as Danny Wegbreit and Michaela Dietz as Hannah Schwooper.

Bob-Waksberg is showrunner — he’ll executive produce with Noel Bright and Steven A. Cohen. Lisa Hanawalt is supervising producer, Jack Shih is supervising director. Long Story Short is produced by Tornante Television; the animation studio is ShadowMachine. Corey Campodonico and Alex Bulkley are co-executive producers.

Long Story Short season one will run for 10 episodes (at 30 minutes apiece).

Bob-Waksberg is excited about today’s vote of confidence.

“Wow!! A season two?! And season one hasn’t even come out yet! It must be a REALLY good show,” Bob-Waksberg said in a statement. “I can’t wait to watch it when it premieres on Netflix, Friday, August 22! Let’s all do that!”

For now, let’s all watch the trailer:
