Why Did Nagarjuna Slap Isha Koppikar 14 Times? Actress Recalls Chandralekha Shoot

Isha Koppikar was at her candid best when she recently opened up about her acting journey. For those unaware, she began working in the South entertainment industry before stepping into Bollywood. Isha remembered her first Telugu movie film where she starred as the lead. It was Chandralekha, where Isha shared screen space with Nagarjuna. She revealed that she was slapped by Nagarjuna 14 times for a scene.

However, Isha has no complaints. She shared that she had asked Nagarjuna to slap her for real in order to feel the emotions of the intense scene. She opened up, stating, “I got slapped by Nagarjuna. I was a fully committed actor that I want to perform in a real, method way. So when he was slapping me, I couldn’t feel it. This was my second film, so I told him, ‘Nag, you really slap me.’ He said, ‘Are you sure? No, I can’t.’ I said, ‘I want that feeling. I am not feeling it right now.’ So he slapped me, but softly.”

However, the process was elaborate and Isha had to give 14 takes, which meant she was slapped by Nagarjuna 14 times. But Isha was thankful for her co-star Nagarjuna. She recalled having slap marks on her face and Nagarjuna being apologetic for them. But Isha noted that it was her decision to get slapped, so she could excel in her performance. “In an attempt to look angry, I got slapped 14 times. At the end, I literally had slap marks on my face. Bechara mujhe leke baitha, bola sorry (Poor guy, he apologised to me). I said, ‘I asked for it, why are you saying sorry?” Koppikar recalled.
