Not Saiyaara, Ahaan Panday was supposed to debut with another YRF film – Deets Inside

Ahaan Panday has emerged as a promising newcomer with his debut film, Saiyaara. The Mohit Suri directorial earned him praises from critics and the audience alike. The actor trained for a long time with Yash Raj Films before finally making his debut. However, Saiyaara was not supposed to be Ahaan’s debut film. The project he was supposed to debut with got shelved due to the pandemic, leaving him heartbroken.

Mohit Suri revealed this during one of his recent interviews and said, “Ahaan had actually been workshopping with YRF for seven years. He was supposed to do a larger-than-life film before the pandemic. But the project was cancelled because, as you know, the industry changed. Overnight, his pride and guroor was killed. The same kid who was going around telling everyone that he would be launched by YRF was heartbroken. People started saying to him, ‘You were bragging about being launched by YRF, what now?’”

However, Aditya Chopra called Ahaan and reassured him that the filmmaker still has faith in his talent. Chopra also told Ahaan that he can look for work outside YRF, but the latter was adamant about making his debut with the production house.

Suri added, “I know that Adi sir called him after the pandemic, and told him that his faith in his talent hasn’t decreased even one bit, but that he could start looking for opportunities outside the studio if he wanted to. ‘You don’t need to hang on here, you can look for work elsewhere’, he was told. But the kid was adamant that he could only be launched by YRF, and it worked.”
Finally, Saiyaara happened, and he was launched along with Aneet Padda. The film also stars Shaan R Grover, Rajesh Kumar, Varun Badola, Alam Khan and Sid Makkar among others.
