“His Eyes Speak Different Language Now” – Indira Krishnan on Ramayana Co-star Ranbir Kapoor

Indira Krishnan will be working with Ranbir Kapoor once more in Ramayana: Part 1, where she is expected to play the character of Kaushalya, the mother of Lord Ram. This comes after both of them shared the screen space in Animal, where Indira Krishnan played Geetanjali’s (Rashmika Mandanna) mother. While discussing about Ranbir, Indira appreciated his exceptional talent for playing any character, be it the intense and rowdy persona seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal or the calm and collected role in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming epic, Ramayana. She believes that Ranbir seamlessly transitions into any character he plays.

During a recent interview, Indira Krishnan mentioned, “I remember the first day, we were shooting for the sandalwood ceremony and the way he sat down, he sat like how one imagines Lord Rama to sit. How he positioned his upper body, his face, his eyes, it’s not easy. Because his upper body was without any clothes, since in that scene Lord Rama was wearing just his dhoti. The kind of comfort level he brought in… And I think that is the plus point of Ramayana. You can see that contrast from Animal.”

She pointed out that the difference in Ranbir’s performances was quite evident, and having worked with him on both films, she could appreciate the transformation even more. Regarding his preparation for the role, Indira shared that, “Ranbir has worked not only on his physicality, but even his eyes speak a different language. Like Lord Rama is supposed to have strong shoulders because he carries his bow and arrow, Ranbir has worked on his shoulders, his body.”
