TNT Sports Quadruples Down on Savannah Bananas, Will Televise Banana Ball Championship
TNT Sports will be seeing yellow over the next couple of months, with the sports division inking the biggest TV deal yet for the Savannah Bananas and Banana Ball, including the first ever Banana Ball tour championship.
TNT Sports will televise 19 Banana Ball games in August and September on TruTV and HBO Max, with the Savannah Bananas taking on the Party Animals, Firefighters or Texas Tailgaters in each game. Last season TNT Sports televised five Banana Ball games, marking a significant increase in coverage. The Banana Ball tour championship will be held around the time of the MLB Division Series meaning that there will be a lot of baseball on the TNT Sports channels around that time.
The TNT Sports coverage will include Bananas games in MLB ballparks, including PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Petco Park in San Diego, Yankee Stadium in The Bronx, T-Mobile Park in Seattle, and Daikin Park in Houston
The Savannah Bananas and Banana Ball are the brainchild of owner and promoter Jesse Cole, who also serves as a master of ceremonies of sorts at each game, sporting a banana yellow suit and top hat. The game is baseball, but with certain rules removed and others added to maximize enjoyment and fun. Players do TikTok dances on the field and during walkups, and are rewarded for executing trick plays in the field, similar to what the Harlem Globetrotters do, though the Banana ball teams are all playing to win.
