Sitaare Zameen Par to Release on YouTube, Ignore OTT Platforms

Aamir recently announced that the movie will release on his YouTube channel Aamir Khan Talkies on August 1, 2025 but one can watch it on rent for Rs 100 or 1.15 dollars. The movie will have localised pricing in 38 countries including the USA, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany and Singapore.

The actor shared, “Roughly 15 years ago, I realized that our most successful films, like 3 Idiots or Dangal, the statistic of people watching in theaters is about two to three percent of the population. So the next thought that came to me is, how do we reach out to the remaining 97 to 98 percent? I want to make this facility accessible to every Indian. I’ve come to realize that the pay-per-view model, which has been in use so far, is something I’d like to continue, this time on YouTube.”

He added, “With that intention, I launched Aamir Khan Talkies a few months ago. There’s already a lot of content available on the channel for you to explore.”

During the press event, he further said, “You will be able to see all my films, all Aamir Khan Productions’ movies. These include Lagaan, Dangal, Sitaare Zameen Par. On August 1, you will only be able to watch Sitaare Zameen Par. After one or two weeks, we will add more films. My father’s films will also be available on Aamir Khan Talkies. I also want to put my show Satyamev Jayate on Aamir Khan Talkies for free. I don’t want to charge for it.” Aamir noted that the channel will have free content, video-on-demand content and pay-per-view content.
