Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara is not only breaking records at the box office, the movie’s title track is also creating history at the global music scene. While the Indian audience is fond of the song, it seems that the international audience has also taken a liking to it. The track has recently created history as the first ever Indian song to top of a Global Viral 50 chart.

The song has been sung byFaheem Abdullah and composed by Tanishk Bagchi. Interestingly, it has surpassed songs from regulars at the chart, including BLACKPINK, Billie Eilish,Justin Bieber and more. It has also surpassed Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and Sabrina Carpenter’s songs on the list. Tanishk took to social media to laud his team for the achievement. “We did it. Saiyaara is now #1 on Global Viral Spotify. This moment belongs to every heartbeat behind the song,” he wrote. Calling Suri “the man with the vision,” he thanked him and YRF for trusting him with the process. “Indian music isn’t rising. It’s already flying. Saiyaara is proof,” Tanishk added.

During a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Tanishk also opened up about being known for recreating songs. However, he believes Saiyaara’s songs will put him on the map as an original composer. He said, “People used to say that I only recreated songs. But they didn’t know that I have composed a number of good original songs as well. Par ab Saiyaara se logo ko pata chal raha hai ki Tanishk Bagchi original mein bhi baap hai (People are finally realising that I’m a master at originals too). I’m really loving it all. I’ve received a lot of encouragement.”

During an exclusive interview with Filmfare, Tanishk also opened up about promoting Indian music in the global scene. “When Arijit and I create music, we don’t think about how big a hit it might become. We just make the music. Bolna and Raatan lambiyan are still on the charts, even though they’re no longer being actively promoted. No one’s putting money into them. Look at Hanumankind. He had been struggling since 2016, but now he’s getting his break. The issue is, we’re missing good promoters, producers labels and platforms. Most of them don’t promote the right artiste or the right song,” he added.
