Saiyaara box office Day 9: Ahaan-Aneet’s love story becomes year’s 2nd biggest hit

Mohit Suri’s ‘Saiyaara’ has stormed into the Rs 200 crore club in record time. The romantic drama, marking the debut of Ahaan Panday alongside Aneet Padda, has raked in an impressive Rs 217.25 crore net in India within just nine days, according to early estimates by Sacnilk. Surpassing industry predictions, the film is now set to aim for the prestigious Rs 300 crore milestone.

On its second Saturday, ‘Saiyaara’ earned an estimated Rs 26.5 crore, witnessing a nearly 50 per cent jump from its second Friday collection of Rs 18 crore. Interestingly, the earning of the second Saturday matches its first Saturday collection, proving that the film is keeping up its momentum at the box office.

Well, not just in India, the film’s craze has transcended borders. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Saiyaara’ held firm on its second Friday, grossing over Rs 30 crore worldwide and marking its first million-dollar day in overseas markets, a rare achievement for a romantic drama led by debutants.

By the close of Day 8, the film had amassed a remarkable Rs 282 crore in global grosses, including Rs 229 crore from India and Rs 53 crore from international markets.

Given the numbers and box office success, ‘Saiyaara’ has officially surpassed Akshay Kumar’s ‘Housefull 5’ to claim the spot of the second highest-grossing film of the year, trailing only behind ‘Chhaava’, which boasts a massive Rs 601 crore collection.

The film is a romance-drama about Krish Kapoor (Ahaan Panday), a budding musician, and Vaani Batra (Aneet Padda), a shy writer. Through their relationship, the film explores love, loss, and drama. It is currently running successfully in theatres.
