Anushka Sharma’s Chakda Xpress Put on Hold? Actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya Spills The Beans
The release of Anushka Sharma‘s much-awaited film, Chakda Xpress, has been in the talks since a while, and fans are highly curious about its chances of being released. In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya, who plays an important role alongside Anushka in the film, shared insights into the special nature of the biopic. He also mentioned that he shares the audience’s eagerness for the film’s release.
Dibyendu Bhattacharya said, “You don’t know how badly I’m waiting for the film to release because it is a fantastic film. I always tell people… I watched it at Prosit’s [director Prosit Roy] place. I told him, ‘It’s not releasing, but since you have it, at least show it to me.’ He said it wasn’t completely finished, not everything had been done, but I watched it and… it is such a beautiful film.”

Dibyendu Bhattacharya was also quite vocal in his praise of Anushka Sharma’s performance. He shared, “It is the best performance of Anushka Sharma to date. I don’t know why they are not releasing it. It’s a really, really fantastic film.”
Upon being asked whether the film had been cancelled or simply delayed, Dibyendu Bhattacharya admitted to being uncertain. He stated, “I have no idea. If I had any information about the film, I would tell you first. I really don’t know because Clean Slate is on one side and Netflix is on the other. What’s going on between the two, I have no clue.”

Apart from personal interest, Dibyendu highlighted the emotional and financial burdens that delays can have. He said, “As an actor, I really want the film to see the light of day. A lot of hard work goes into making a film. From the day research begins to the final print, it’s a long and emotionally invested journey. So many people are involved. So many ambitions ride on one film. Many families run on the income generated through it, technicians, daily wage workers. It’s very sad. I want the film to release immediately and I’m telling you, it’s a fantastic film. A brilliant film. And Anushka’s best performance till now.”
In 2022, Anushka Sharma announced Netflix’s Chakda Xpress as her comeback to Bollywood after her role in Zero alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif in 2018. The film is produced by Clean Slate Filmz, a production company founded by Anushka’s brother, Karnesh Sharma. Last year, there were reports that the production house’s partnership with Netflix had ended, which led to a delay in the release schedule.
According to reports, Clean Slate Filmz may buy back the film from Netflix and potentially find other platforms for its release. Both Clean Slate Filmz and Netflix have yet to comment on these reports.
