Vaani Kapoor Gets Candid About Not Being a Part of War 2

The excitement around War 2 is building rapidly, with Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani leading the charge in what is expected to be one of the biggest action releases of the year. Scheduled to hit theatres on August 14, the film follows up on the massive success of the 2019 original. Fans are particularly curious about how director Ayan Mukerji has approached the sequel, especially with the trailer set to launch on July 25. With a fresh vision and a powerful cast, War 2 is already generating huge buzz.

During a recent event, Vaani Kapoor, who played Naina in the original War, spoke candidly about not being a part of the sequel. Her character had died in the first film, alongside Tiger Shroff’s character Khalid. Addressing her absence with humour, Vaani said, “Me, Sid (director Sidharth Anand), and Tiger are all not there in the sequel. Tiger and I both passed away in War. So I said, if Tiger comes back, I’m coming back too, my friend!” Her witty remark drew laughs and also subtly acknowledged the changes in the sequel’s cast and crew.

Despite not being in War 2, Vaani expressed nothing but support for the new team. She praised the visuals of the upcoming film, especially after catching a glimpse of the teaser. “It is looking beautiful. It is cinematic. It is larger than life. Kudos to the team,” she said, adding that she felt lucky to have been part of what she called “the OG War.” Her positive tone clearly showed her appreciation for the franchise, even as it heads in a new direction without her or Tiger.
While Kiara Advani steps into the female lead’s role in War 2, Vaani has had notable projects of her own. Earlier this year, she replaced Ileana D’Cruz in Raid 2, starring opposite Ajay Devgn. The film was well received and Vaani’s performance got appreciation. She is now gearing up for the release of her Netflix series Mandala Murders, which begins streaming on July 25.
