Christopher Meloni to Star in Hulu’s NFL Drama From Dan Fogelman

A Hulu drama series set in the world of the NFL has drafted its first actor.

Christopher Meloni will star in the series, which comes from Paradise and This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman. Disney’s 20th Television, where Fogelman is based, and Skydance Sports are producing the show.

Details about the show are being kept under wraps, but sources say it’s set against the backdrop of the National Football League and will feature generations of a family. Meloni is set to play the head coach of a team.

Meloni also has another lead role in TV, on Law & Order: Organized Crime at Peacock. The show wrapped its fifth season (and first as a streaming-only series after four on NBC) in June; Peacock hasn’t made a renewal decision yet. Should Organized Crime continue, however, he could take part in both series.

Hulu picked up the series in October 2024. Producer Skydance Sports is a joint venture between the NFL and Skydance, the soon to be owner of Paramount; the league has expressed an interest in developing more scripted projects set in its world.

Fogelman, who’s also working on season two of Paradise for Hulu, is writing the NFL show and will executive produce with Jess Rosenthal and Skydance Sports’ David Ellison, Jesse Sisgold and Jason T. Reed.

In addition to his history with the Law & Order franchise — he starred on SVU for 12 seasons before joining Organized Crime — Meloni’s credits include Syfy’s series Happy!, Oz, Wet Hot American Summer and Netflix’s upcoming movie Little Brother. He is repped by Gersh.

Variety first reported the news.
