Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar 2 Postponed and Will Clash With Dhadak 2
Ajay Devgn’s much-awaited comedy sequel Son of Sardaar 2 has officially postponed its release. The film, which was earlier set to hit theatres on July 25, 2025, will now arrive a week later on August 1, 2025. The makers announced the new release date on social media, writing, “Jassi Paaji and toli will see you in cinemas worldwide on 1st August 2025.” The change in date has now set up an exciting box office clash between Son of Sardaar 2 and the highly anticipated Dhadak 2, starring Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi.
While the reason for the delay hasn’t been officially disclosed, the new release slot is heating up with multiple big films competing for audience attention. Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara is already enjoying blockbuster success, and the buzz around Dhadak 2 is also growing steadily.

Son of Sardaar 2, directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, promises an entertaining blend of action, humour, and Punjabi spirit. The trailer, already released online, brings back the fun and chaos of the original while introducing fresh twists. Set against the beautiful backdrop of Scotland, the film sees Ajay Devgn return as Jassi, with Mrunal Thakur playing the female lead.
The film also marks the final on-screen appearance of actor Mukul Dev, who sadly passed away on May 23, 2025. The ensemble cast includes Sanjay Mishra, Neeru Bajwa, Vindu Dara Singh, Chunky Panday, Deepak Dobriyal, Kubbra Sait, and others. The comedy is being produced under Devgn Films and SOS 2 Limited, and is presented by Jio Studios. Co-producers include Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande.
Interestingly, Son of Sardaar 2 was earlier meant to clash with Param Sundari, a Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra starrer. However, that film has also moved its release to August, as confirmed by the updated teaser shown with Maalik earlier this month.
With two major releases now lined up for the same date, August 1, 2025 is shaping up to be a fiery Friday at the box office. Fans are eagerly waiting to see whether Son of Sardaar 2 or Dhadak 2 wins hearts and collections.
