Veteran Actor Dheeraj Kumar Passes Away at 79
Veteran actor and television producer Dheeraj Kumar passed away at the age of 79 after a prolonged battle with pneumonia. He had been admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital earlier this week following severe breathing difficulties and was placed on ventilator support in the ICU. His family confirmed the heartbreaking news and requested privacy, while also thanking fans and well-wishers for their constant prayers and support during this tough time.

Dheeraj Kumar, known for his humility and deep-rooted spiritual beliefs, had recently made a public appearance at the inauguration of the ISKCON temple in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. Speaking at the event, he expressed his admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his unwavering faith in Sanatan Dharma. He humbly remarked that while people called him the VVIP guest, for him, the real VVIP is God, reflecting the depth of his spiritual connection.
His journey in the entertainment industry began in 1965, and over the decades, he went on to build a remarkable career in both film and television. Between 1970 and 1984, he acted in 21 Punjabi films and featured in several well-known Hindi movies such as Swami, Heera Panna, and Raaton Ka Raja. He shared screen space with legends like Dev Anand and Manoj Kumar, leaving behind a body of work that’s remembered fondly even today.

But Dheeraj Kumar’s legacy extended far beyond acting. As the founder of Creative Eye Ltd, he was instrumental in shaping Indian television, especially through mythological and devotional shows like Om Namah Shivay, Shree Ganesh, and Jai Santoshi Maa. He also brought heartfelt family dramas like Ghar Ki Laxmi Betiyan, Ye Pyar Na Hoga Kam, and Ishq Subhan Allah into viewers’ living rooms. Through these timeless stories, he not only entertained but also brought cultural and spiritual narratives into everyday life.
