Box Office Report: Superman, Maalik, & Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan’s Day 2 collections

The weekend box office saw three different films running in the theatres, although with contrasting returns. David Corenswet’s Superman, Rajkummar Rao’s Maalik, and Vikrant Massey and Shanaya Kapoor’s Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan are all competing, though their performances are shaping up in different ways.

The newest version of the beloved DC superhero, Superman, appears to be gaining significant traction in India. After a promising start on Friday, the film experienced healthy growth on Saturday. According to early estimates, the film collected approximately Rs 9.25 crore on Day 2, bringing its overall earnings in India to roughly Rs 16.25 crore. With the positive reception and the curiosity around David Corenswet’s portrayal of Clark Kent, the film is expected to maintain its momentum on Sunday.

Maalik

Rajkummar Rao’s intense political thriller, Maalik, is performing quite well at the box office. The film reportedly earned Rs 4.45 crore on Saturday, bringing its total domestic net collection to Rs 8.2 crore, based on initial estimates from trade tracker Sacnilk. The positive reception and word-of-mouth from the audience seem to be contributing to the film’s growing momentum. Maalik might conclude its opening weekend with good results with positive expectations on Sunday too.

Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan

The romantic drama Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, starring Vikrant Massey and Shanaya Kapoor, experienced a modest increase in earnings on its second day, reportedly collecting approximately Rs 0.43 crore at the Indian box office.

The film is also facing strong competition from Hollywood releases such as Superman and Jurassic World Rebirth, both of which performed exceptionally well over the weekend, considering the positive reviews they received. Although, the makers hope that the film will steadily do better considering this film is largely aimed at a younger audience.

With one more day left in the weekend, all eyes are now on the Sunday collections to see if Superman continues its positive run, whether Maalik continues its upward results, and if Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan can pick up its pace
