Alia Bhatt’s Ex-assistant Arrested in Rs. 76 Lakh Fraud Case

Alia Bhatt’s former personal assistant, Vedika Shetty, has been arrested by Mumbai’s Juhu Police for allegedly cheating the actress out of over Rs. 76 lakhs. The arrest comes months after Alia’s mother, Soni Razdan, filed a complaint, accusing Vedika of financial fraud. According to police officials, Vedika had been embezzling money between May 2022 and August 2024 by forging Alia’s signatures and misusing her access to funds. After evading authorities for several months, she was finally tracked down and arrested in Bengaluru. She was produced in court on July 8 and has been remanded to police custody till July 10.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Vedika Shetty’s name has come up in a serious allegation. Before working with Alia, she served as a full-time executive assistant to actor Urvashi Rautela. Urvashi’s mother, Meera Rautela, has now revealed that they too had a deeply distressing experience with her. “She was hired to assist Urvashi during her Miss Universe reign and was entrusted with everything from her wardrobe to personal belongings,” Meera shared. Adding, “But within a short time, we realised she was involved in repeated acts of theft and deceit.”

Meera recalled a specific incident from 2016 involving her own mother. “She had travelled from Nainital to Mumbai to attend Urvashi’s Miss Universe India crown handover. While staying at our home, a significant amount of money was stolen from her briefcase,” she said. Adding, “Vedika had full access to our home at the time. That’s when we started connecting the dots.” She also added that this wasn’t an isolated incident and that other things had gone missing during Vedika’s tenure.

In another shocking revelation, Meera claimed she personally caught Vedika stealing. “I saw her take money from my purse while I stood in front of the mirror. When I confronted her, she denied everything, but I know what I saw,” she said. Meera also alleged that Vedika falsely claimed she was related to Bollywood actors Shilpa Shetty and Suniel Shetty, possibly to gain trust. As of now, Alia Bhatt and her team have not made any public statement regarding the matter. The investigation is ongoing.
