Box Office Report: Metro…In Dino’s Continues Raking in Good Numbers on Day 4

Anurag Basu’s Metro…In Dino has been slowly but steadily making its mark at the box office, earning a decent amount over the first few days. With a fantastic cast including Sara Ali Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, and more, the film dives into the complexities of love and relationships against the backdrop of the fast-moving urban world. Released on July 4, it started off quietly but picked up steam as the weekend kicked in.

On Friday, it made a respectable Rs 3.5 crore, and then saw a solid boost on Saturday with Rs 6 crore. By Sunday, the film had racked up Rs 7.25 crore, benefiting from the weekend crowd. Monday, however, saw a slight dip with early estimates showing Rs 2.5 crore, bringing its total to Rs 19.25 crore. Even though the weekday numbers weren’t as high, the weekend surge gave the film a strong enough start.

Metro… In Dino carries forward the soul of Anurag Basu’s 2007 film Life In A Metro, and it’s already doing much better than its predecessor in terms of collections. Back then, the original had wrapped up its opening weekend at just Rs. 3.48 crore , a number the sequel has comfortably passed. In fact, Basu recently shared that it was the late Irrfan Khan who planted the seed for this sequel, making it all the more special.

What really seems to be striking a chord with the audience is the film’s ability to bring love to life in a very real way. It’s not the grand, over-the-top romantic gestures that stand out, but the small, meaningful moments whether it’s a conversation with a stranger or sharing an intimate moment on a rainy street. It feels so familiar, almost like something you’ve experienced, which makes it that much more special.
