Report: Diljit Dosanjh Won’t Be Removed From Border 2 Amid Sardaar Ji 3 Row
Diljit Dosanjh is facing massive backlash for working with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3 amid India’s tension with its neighbour. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees demanded that the Punjabi singer-actor be banned from his upcoming Bollywood film Border 2. FWICE urged the makers to immediately reconsider their casting choice and also wrote to government officials demanding that Diljit’s passport be revoked. They also wrote a letter to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah to withdraw the permission granted to the makers of Border 2 to shoot the film at the National Defence Academy.

However, the actor might not be removed from the film. Hindustan Times quoted a source close to the developments as saying, “There is no plan to replace or remove Diljit from Border 2. The announcement about his casting was made almost nine months back, before any of the unfortunate situations had happened. Almost 40-50 per cent of the film’s shooting has already been done, so making any change at this point is not possible.”

Earlier this week, FWICEwrote a letter to the makers of Border 2, asking them to remove Diljit from the film over the Sardaar Ji 3 row. The letter was addressed to Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, Nidhi Dutta and Anurag Singh. It read, “The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), representing the core workforce of the Indian film and television industry, is deeply disappointed and concerned by the casting of actor-singer Mr. Diljit Dosanjh in your upcoming film Border 2 produced under the banner of JP Films in collaboration with T-Series and directed by Mr. Anurag Singh. By choosing to collaborate with an artist who has so brazenly ignored the ongoing tensions and national sentiment, your production has directly undermined the stand taken by the Indian film industry in solidarity with the nation.”
