Ayushmann Khurrana Invited to Join The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana has received a prestigious invitation to join The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the body behind the Oscars. Known for choosing unique, socially relevant films, Ayushmann is now recognised on one of the world’s biggest film platforms.
This honour places him alongside global names such as Ariana Grande, Gillian Anderson, Jeremy Strong, Mikey Madison, and India’s own Kamal Haasan, who have also been invited this year. “We are thrilled to invite this esteemed class of artists, technologists, and professionals to join the Academy,” said Bill Kramer, Academy CEO, and Janet Yang, Academy President. Adding, “These individuals have made lasting contributions to the global film community.”

Ayushmann Khurrana is no stranger to global recognition. He has been celebrated for bringing progressive stories to Indian cinema, be it about gender, sexuality, caste, or mental health. Films like Article 15, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, and Bala have not only entertained but also sparked important conversations across audiences.

In 2023, Ayushmann received the TIME100 Impact Award and was also listed in TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World. He was praised for using cinema as a gentle, yet powerful tool for change.
In addition to his acting, Ayushmann is also the UNICEF India National Ambassador, working towards the protection of children’s rights and speaking up on issues like gender equality and child education. This new honour from the Academy is more than a personal win, it reflects how Indian films with heart and meaning are being respected globally. It also shines a light on artists who use storytelling for something bigger than entertainment.
Ayushmann Khurrana shared the news on Instagram with pride and gratitude, marking yet another milestone in his journey from radio jockey and reality show winner to one of India’s most influential film voices.
