Birthday Special: Arjun Kapoor on Navigating Bad Phases in His Career
Arjun Kapoor celebrates his 40th birthday today. He made his Bollywood debut with the 2012 movie Ishaqzaade. It has been 13 years since the actor made his debut. During an exclusive interview with Filmfare in 2022, Arjun opened up about being a practical person amid facing failures in his career.

When asked about navigating through bad phases, Arjun said, “I am a very practical person. I was not deluded about why my films weren’t working. I wasn’t deluded about what my shortcomings were. That aspect of mine allowed me to deal with failure.” He further added, “Nobody deals with failure well but it is inevitable and comes in every person’s life. It hurt me a little more because during that time my physicality came into question, my attitude towards work and my acting came into question along with my script selection. And suddenly I became known for all the wrong reasons.”
However, the actor also shared how his personal life was the centre of attention. “My personal life came into question at the same time. I had to deal with everything all at once so it was a lot more to absorb. When films work and you are doing things, you can get away with it. When your films are not doing well and you are looking good, you can still get away with it. But when your films aren’t working and you are not looking great and your personal life and work ethics are being questioned and you are coming across as someone who doesn’t care – that’s a lot,” the actor noted.

The actor also noted that he has understood how to deal with failures. “The best way to deal with failure is to put your head down, accept it, understand it and work. You have to have confidence in yourself and believe what you are doing is right,” he added.
