Sitaare Zameen Par box office Day 5: Aamir’s film remains rock solid during weekdays

Aamir Khan’s ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ maintained a steady pace at the box office during the weekdays. The film’s Tuesday collection remained as good as its earnings on Monday, proving that word-of-mouth has extensively worked for the social comedy.

The RS Prasanna-directorial opened at Rs 10.7 crore on Friday. However, the film saw solid growth on Saturday, with Sunday collecting a whopping Rs 27.25 crore nett. After five days at the ticket window, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ stands at Rs 75.15 crore nett.

  • Friday: Rs 10.7 crore
  • Saturday: Rs 20.2 crore
  • Sunday: Rs 27.25 crore
  • Monday: Rs 8.5 crore
  • Tuesday: Rs 8.50 crore
  • Total: Rs 75.15 crore

The film, which features real-life people with neurodivergent conditions, has already surpassed ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ and its own predecessor – ‘Taare Zameen Par’ – to become the seventh highest-grossing film on Aamir Khan’s resume. It is now eyeing the lifetime run of ‘Ghajini’ (2008), which collected around Rs 114 crore nett at the Indian box office.

At its current speed, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is expected to surpass the benchmark of Rs 100 crore by the end of its second weekend. The film will face some competition with ‘Maa’ releasing in theatres this weekend. However, it will be interesting to see if the Kajol-starrer ends up generating positive word-of-mouth enough to slow down the run of ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’.
