Tamil actor Srikanth arrested in Chennai narcotics inquiry

Tamil actor Srikanth has reportedly been arrested over allegations of possession of narcotics. The probe began after ex-AIADMK functionary named Prasad was detained following a heated altercation at a local bar recently. During routine questioning, Prasad reportedly confessed to supplying cocaine and other banned substances not only for his own use but also to the renowned actor.

Named During Bar Fight Interrogation

According to investigators, Prasad claimed he sold Srikanth roughly one gram of cocaine at a going rate of Rs 12,000. These disclosures set off alarm bells within the special investigation team handling the case. Officers swiftly moved to corroborate the confession, tracing messages and purchase records to determine whether the actor knowingly procured illicit drugs.

A Career Spanning Two Industries

Before earning his stripes on the silver screen, Srikanth forged a successful modelling career. He first stepped into acting via the small screen in K. Balachander’s acclaimed series Jannal – Marabu Kavithaigal in 1999. A year later, he transitioned to films with Roja Kootam (2002) in Tamil. The following year, Telugu audiences welcomed him as Sriram in Okariki Okaru (2003).

Over the next two decades, Srikanth amassed a diverse filmography, delivering memorable performances in Manasellam, Varnajalam, Kana Kandein, Bambara Kannale, Mercury Pookkal, East Coast Road, Poo, Sathurangam, Nanban, and more recently, Konjam Kadhal Konjam Modhal and Erracheera. He’s also ventured into digital with the JioHotstar series Harikatha.

This unexpected legal entanglement marks a dramatic turn in his longstanding career. As fans and industry insiders await the lab findings, many hope for his swift vindication but the stakes have never been higher for one of Kollywood’s familiar faces.
