Sitaare Zameen Par box office Day 4: Aamir’s film past TZP, Laal Singh, eyes Ghajini
Aamir Khan’s ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ passed the crucial Monday test at the box office. The film saw a considerable drop from its weekend numbers, but maintained a decent pace. It also went on to surpass the lifetime earnings of ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ and its own predecessor, ‘Taare Zameen Par’ by the end of Day 4.
The RS Prasanna-directorial collected around Rs 8.50 crore nett on Monday, taking the four-day total to around Rs 66.65 crore. Khan’s previous screen outing – ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ – collected Rs 61.36 crore, while ‘TZP’ earned around Rs 62.95 crore.

‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ has benefitted immensely from good word-of-mouth on social media, and that is expected to take it past the benchmark of Rs 100 crore by the end of its second weekend at the box office. The film is now eyeing to surpass the lifetime run of ‘Ghajini’ (2008), which collected Rs 114 crore nett.

It will be interesting to see how long ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ takes to reach or surpass ‘Ghajini’ in India. The film also faces some competition from ‘Maa’ at the box office this weekend. The Kajol-starrer is a horror drama, and could pose a slight challenge to the smooth run of ‘SZP’, if it receives positive word-of-mouth.
‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ has got three more days to enjoy a free run at the box office until then.
The film also features Genelia D’Souza in the lead, and several real-life neurodivergent people.
