Exclusive: “Amaal Is The Best Elder Brother Anyone Could Have Asked For” – Armaan Malik

Singer Armaan Malik is back with a new track, Baari Baari, in collaboration with his brother, composer Amaal Mallik. This is one of the many tracks the musician brothers have collaborated on. In an exclusive conversation with Filmfare, Armaan opened up about the endearing bond he shares with his elder brother. In a previous interview with Filmfare, Amaal had said that personally, Armaan is like a baby to him, but professionally, he bullies him a lot as he believes in his brother’s potential as a singer.

Asking Armaan for a response, Armaan broke into a heartfelt smile and said, “He couldn’t have explained our relationship better. He is very protective, overprotective, about me. That’s almost every older sibling. But whenever I’m in the studio, he basically makes me feel like shit (laughs). But that’s how every sibling is.”

Armaan continued, “I have noticed whenever he fights with me during a recording, I give my best takes. Because he is always like, ‘What nonsense are you singing? Sing again.’ And he says this 10 times till I’m pissed. Then I’m like, I’ll show you now. And I do it in one take. I don’t know how to explain it. He pushes me to the edge and gets the best out of me when I don’t know that it is possible. He knows my potential more than I do. That’s the relationship we have. He spoils me. Amaal is the bestest elder brother anyone could have asked for. The kind of love that we share is just unparalleled.”

This comes months after Amaal opened up about his clinical depression and revealed that he has distanced himself from his family. However, he mentioned that nothing has changed between him and his brother.

Armaan also revealed that he often turns to his brother for advice, as his experience plays a big role in helping him navigate his own challenges. “I can ask him about a lot of things because he is five years older than I am and has seen a little more of life than I have. Amaal always tells me candidly what he would do in the situation, which would not necessarily be the way I would tackle a situation. But it always gives me perspective. I always lean on him for advice on my songs. Sometimes I compose my songs, and I need feedback from him because he’s a composer and melody maker. So, I have to run it by him. The advice that I get from him is valuable,” concluded Armaan Malik.
