R. Madhavan And Fatima Sana Shaikh’s Aap Jaisa Koi To Release On THIS Date
This July with Aap Jaisa Koi is set to bring a refreshing romantic drama that delves into love, companionship, and second chances. Starring R. Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh in the lead, the film is produced by Dharmatic Entertainment and premieres exclusively on Netflix on July 11.
Directed by Meenakshi Sundareshwar filmmaker Vivek Soni, the film centers around Shrirenu, a disciplined Sanskrit teacher played by Madhavan, and Madhu, a free-spirited French instructor portrayed by Fatima. Their contrasting personalities collide in a narrative that explores how love can bloom when you least expect it — across age, temperament, and tradition.

Described as a story of barabari wala pyaar (equal love), the film presents a mature and nuanced take on relationships — far from the typical young romance, but no less compelling. It marks Madhavan’s return to the romantic genre, a space where he has long been celebrated.
Director Vivek Soni calls Aap Jaisa Koi “a film about breaking free from emotional walls,” adding that it embraces the awkwardness and authenticity of modern love. The story, he says, is “tender, messy, and intimate,” with Madhavan and Fatima delivering performances filled with heart and honesty.

Netflix India’s Director of Original Films, Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh, describes the film as a celebration of love that quietly questions societal expectations. Alongside Madhavan and Fatima, the film features Ayesha Raza and a strong supporting ensemble.
The film is backed by Dharmatic Entertainment — helmed by Karan Johar, along with producers Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra — and aims to present a classic tale of love in a contemporary context. The team says Aap Jaisa Koi is about redefining intimacy, challenging conditioning, and showcasing how love evolves.
Whether you’re fluent in Sanskrit, French, or just the language of love, Aap Jaisa Koi is set to strike a chord. Tune in on July 11 as this love story sets to win you over.
