“I Generally Benefitted From Them”- Aamir Khan’s Son Junaid Khan Talks About His Privileges

Aamir Khan’s son, actor Junaid Khan, never shies away from speaking about the privilege he comes from. In a recent interview, the Loveyapa actor reflected on his superstar father’s legacy and influence and admitted that he generally benefited from them. But Junaid also said that people have started to judge him by his own talent, instead of constantly comparing him to his father.

He said, “I do come from a very wealthy family. Papa is respected, loved and powerful. There are privileges that come with that. I generally benefited from them.” Talking about his career’s trajectory, Junaid continued, “Yes, Aditya Chopra knows who I am because I am Aamir Khan’s son. He does not come to the Prithvi Theatre to watch plays. Most people know me because I am Aamir Khan’s son. But I have been fortunate that there are few comparing me to him. Basically, people are judging me by my own talent and trajectory in my career so far, which is a good thing in a way. It will be tough if I am compared to my father.”

He further revealed that while Khan offered guidance to him during his debut film, he avoided shaping his son’s acting choices. Junaid continued, “Papa didn’t have much to do with Maharaj. He’d heard the story and liked it, but asked me if I was sure I wanted to take on such a big film early in my career. He saw the final cut and liked it, but with him. If you need specific advice, he will always give you solid, practical advice, like how to stay warm shooting in the rain or how to squint when the lights are too bright. He is not who will essentially hand out acting tips.”

However, Junaid also made it clear that he will never reprise any of his father’s roles, as there would be too many comparisons. Junaid Khan is currently two films old. After doing Maharaj, which marked his OTT debut, he made his big screen debut with Loveyapa. 

Meanwhile, talking of Aamir Khan, he will soon be seen in Sitaare Zameen Par.
