Aamir Khan Stands Firm As CBFC Suggests Cuts In Sitaare Zameen Par
Aamir Khan is all set to return to the big screen with his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par, which is currently creating buzz among fans. The movie, expected to release on June 20, features Aamir in the role of a basketball coach who trains a team of specially abled children. Genelia D’Souza plays his love interest in the film.
However, just days before the release, the film has hit a roadblock. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has asked for two cuts in the film. But Aamir Khan has refused to make those changes, saying that each part of the film was made with careful thought and intention. According to reports, he believes the story, dialogues, and characters are important to the message of the film and should remain unchanged.

This disagreement has caused a delay in getting the film certified in India. Until the CBFC gives its approval, the film cannot be released in Indian theatres. Aamir is now planning to meet with CBFC officials in person to explain his point of view and try to get the film cleared without any edits. Interestingly, the film has already been approved by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC). The UK has given it a 12A rating, noting some references to discrimination and mild sexual content. This means the film is cleared for release in the UK, while India still waits for the green light.

Sitaare Zameen Par is being seen as a spiritual sequel to Aamir’s 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par, which also focused on children and learning differences. This new film is said to carry a similar emotional tone but with a fresh story and characters. Fans are now eagerly waiting to see if Aamir’s firm stand will result in a positive outcome or if it will delay the movie’s release. Until then, all eyes are on the CBFC’s final decision.
