Netflix Reveals 2025 Film Release Plans: ‘Knives Out 3,’ ‘Frankenstein,’ Affleck-Damon’s ‘RIP’ and More
Netflix revealed updates for its 2025 film slate — including Knives Out 3, Guillermo del Toro‘s Frankenstein and Noah Baumbach‘s new George Clooney–Adam Sandler feature — at its annual media day held Wednesday.
During the streaming service’s Next on Netflix presentation at its headquarters in Los Angeles, attendees were treated to previously unseen looks at a number of forthcoming film, TV and game projects, with chief content officer Bela Bajaria highlighting notable releases. The streamer also held 11 local presentations at destinations across the globe, including ones in the U.K., Mexico and Canada.
The event in L.A. included video presentations from special guests. In his message, Del Toro noted that he has been wanting to make a feature version of Frankenstein for 50 years. “Over the decades, the character has fused with my soul in a way that it has become autobiography,” the Oscar-winning filmmaker said. “It doesn’t get more personal than this.”
Netflix revealed a new image from the forthcoming adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic horror novel that stars Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as Frankenstein’s monster. The streamer announced that Del Toro’s film will launch in November.

Other news included the announcement that director Joe Carnahan’s crime film RIP, starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, will debut in the fall. RIP centers on a team of Miami police officers who discover millions in cash in a stash house. At the event, Affleck called the movie “a really fun, engaging ride that keeps you guessing.”
Additionally, the streaming giant revealed details about Jay Kelly, the previously untitled feature from writer-director Baumbach that stars Clooney, Sandler and Laura Dern. Netflix’s newly released description calls the movie a “heartbreaking comedy,” and it is set to premiere in the fall.
Netflix debuted a new image from writer-director Rian Johnson’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, with the streamer revealing that the film debuts in the fall. The cast for the third film in the Knives Out franchise includes Daniel Craig, Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack and Thomas Haden Church.
Among the other projects debuting a new image were director Kyle Newacheck’s Happy Gilmore 2 starring Adam Sandler, which is set to launch sometime this year; Simon Stone’s The Woman in Cabin 10, with the adaptation of Ruth Ware’s novel featuring Keira Knightley, Guy Pearce and Hannah Waddingham and set for fall; and Matt Palmer’s Fear Street: Prom Queen, starring India Fowler and debuting this summer.
Getting newly announced spots on the 2025 film calendar are director Gareth Evans’ thriller Havoc starring Tom Hardy, which will premiere this spring; Stephen Chbosky’s comedy Nonnas starring Vince Vaughn and Suan Sarandon, streaming May 9; Victoria Mahoney’s action sequel The Old Guard 2 starring Charlize Theron, set to premiere July 2; and the untitled Kathryn Bigelow thriller starring Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson that is now set for fall.
Director Angus Wall’s documentary feature that centers on legendary performer Eddie Murphy looking back on his memorable career is now titled Eddie and set to premiere this year. Also landing a new title is Titan, director Mark Monroe’s documentary film about the titular submersible’s doomed journey to the ruins of the Titanic. Both projects revealed first-look images.
“With more than 700 million people watching, we can’t just be one thing,” Bavaria told the crowd about the company goals for its forthcoming films, TV series and games. “We need to be the best version of everything.”
