Elliot Page to Develop Scripted TV Series With Bell Media (Exclusive)
Elliot Page’s Pageboy Productions is partnering with Canadian media giant Bell Media to develop and produce original scripted TV series.
The non-exclusive co-development pact will see series created for and picked up by Bell Media’s main TV network CTV and its streamer Crave. Canadian-born Page launched Pageboy in 2021, with its titles including the Page starrer Close to You and the Toronto Film Festival title Backspot.
“Partnering with Bell Media feels like a natural evolution for Pageboy Productions. We’re excited to create captivating content that amplifies voices that deserve to be heard. This collaboration will allow us to tell powerful, genuine stories that challenge perspectives, and inspire audiences both at home and internationally,” Page said in a statement.
As an activist, the Umbrella Academy star used a 2024 appearance at the Junos Awards, Canada’s music awards, to denounce a rollback of LGBTQ2+ rights after Page came out as transgender and nonbinary at the end of 2020. Pageboy is putting a priority on “storytelling that prioritizes safety, representation and intersectional equity in all facets of making film and television,” according to a statement from the production banner.
