Exclusive: ” I have made peace with nepotism” – Kartik Aaryan
Kartik Aaryan is known for establishing his place in the industry as one of the leading actors without any industry backing. In an exclusive conversation with Filmfare’s Editor-in-Chief for the show In The Ring With Filmfare, the Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 actor opened up about nepotism and said that he has lost out on opportunities. However, he expressed that he has made peace with it.
Sharing his view on nepotism, Kartik said, “It exists. It exists in maybe every industry but because I am a part of this industry, I would say that it does exist. I have had my own journey. I cannot blame them also because maybe if I belonged to a film family, I would have received the same help. So, it is not their fault as such.”
On being asked whether it affected him, Kartik opened up, “I have lost out on opportunities. I have never gotten a chance to work with the biggest names and the directors who are already there and then they are coming out of a Rs 500 crore film or a Rs 300 crore film and then they are working with me. I have never done that.” He argued that no two actor’s journeys should be compared as the playing field is not even.
“It’s not an even place to judge an actor’s journey. If you put my journey there – I won’t have those directors in my list and those productions – the biggest of names at that point in time where I started. So, when you compare it like an even field, you have to compare it from the fact that if he had also worked with them, would he have been able to reach where I have reached?”
“So that is a fair comparison. People should not compare themselves to others when it is an unfair field. But I don’t blame them for it. I have made my peace with it. It’s not like I have a problem. My journey makes me feel quite good. But some people are talented as well. A lot of people get a chance but can’t go far but some people can.”
Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan recently announced his next film Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri with Karan Johar with whom he earlier had a fallout.
