‘Outlander’ Prequel ‘Blood of My Blood’ Showcases Two New Romances in First Teaser

The world of Outlander is getting bigger later this year.

Starz has released a teaser for Outlander: Blood of My Blood, a prequel series to the time-traveling historical drama that will focus on the parents of Outlander’s main characters, Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe). The premium cabler also says the new series will premiere in the summer.

Outlander, meanwhile, closes out season seven Friday and has completed filming on its eighth and final season, though Starz hasn’t set a premiere date for it yet.

Blood of My Blood “introduces viewers to two new couples who fight against all odds to be together as their love stories unfold across time,” Starz says in its description of the show. “From the battlefields of World War I to the rugged Highlands of 18th century Scotland, two fated love stories must defy the forces that seek to tear them apart, intersecting in surprising and unforeseen ways.” Watch the teaser below.

The prequel stars Harriet Slater and Jamie Roy as Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, who will become Jamie’s parents in 18th century Scotland, and Hermione Corfield and Jeremy Irvine as Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp, Claire’s parents, whose story unfolds in World War I-era England.

The cast also includes Rory Alexander, Sam Retford, Séamus McLean Ross, Conor MacNeill, Brian McCardie, Jhon Lumsden, Sara Vickers, Peter Mullan, Sally Messham, Terence Rae, Sadhbh Malin, Ailsa Davidson, Annabelle Dowler and Harry Eaton.

Outlander showrunner Matthew B. Roberts serves in the same capacity on Blood of My Blood and executive produces with Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis and Jim Kohlberg. The series comes from Sony Pictures Television, Moore’s Tall Ship Productions, Roberts’ No Fooling Productions Inc. and Kohlberg’s Story Mining & Supply Company.
