Producers Guild Awards Nominations Postponed Amid L.A. Fires

The Producers Guild has postponed announcing its 2025 PGA Awards nominees in movie and TV categories amid the fires raging through Los Angeles.

The PGA Awards nominations will now be announced on Sunday, Jan. 12. Meanwhile, the voting window for casting a ballot has been extended until Saturday, Jan. 11.

The Producers Guild has already announced nominations in its documentary, sports, children’s and short-form content categories.

Yesterday, as the fires continued to spread and burn large areas of Los Angeles, the Oscars, voting for which began Wednesday morning, extended its voting window until Tuesday, Jan. 14, with the 2025 Oscars nominations announcement postponed until Sunday, Jan. 19.

And the Writers Guild of America delayed the announcement of its nominations until Monday, Jan. 13.

Similarly, various events, including awards shows and screenings for Oscar hopeful films, have been postponed. Most notably, the 2025 Critics Choice Awards has been delayed until Sunday, Jan. 26 from its initial date of Sunday, Jan. 12. Additionally, Saturday’s AARP Movies for Grownups Awards has been postponed along with Friday’s AFI Awards celebration luncheon.

And Donna Langley’s Universal toast at Sunset Tower on Friday and Saturday’s BAFTA Tea Party in Beverly Hills are no longer happening.

The Los Angeles fires, which began Tuesday in the Pacific Palisades, have left at least five people dead and destroyed communities ranging from the Pacific Coast to Pasadena. The Pacific Palisades fire is the most destructive in L.A. history, with more than 1,000 structures destroyed, with an additional 1,000 structures destroyed in the Eaton fire in Pasadena. The five deaths recorded so far were from the Eaton fire.

Wednesday night, a fire broke out in the Hollywood Hills, bringing the flames closer to the heart of Los Angeles and densely populated neighborhoods. The Sunset fire, in the Hollywood Hills, also posed a threat to nearby iconic locations such as the Hollywood Bowl, Walk of Fame and TCL Chinese Theatre.

But firefighters were able to get the Sunset fire under control after it burned through 43 acres, with the Los Angeles Fire Department lifting all evacuation orders for the area early Thursday morning.

Strong winds have fueled the spread of the fires, but the winds are expected to have calmed somewhat on Thursday, which would give firefighters an opportunity to make progress in containing the blazes.

The fires have consumed roughly 45 square miles, according to the Associated Press, about the size of the city of San Francisco. More than 100,000 people are under evacuation orders.

Numerous stars have lost their homes in the fires including Billy Crystal, Eugene Levy, Mandy Moore, Anna Faris, James Woods, Diane Warren and Paris Hilton.
