DGA Awards: ‘The Bear,’ ‘Shogun’ and ‘The Penguin’ Lead TV Nominations With Three Nods Each

The Directors Guild of America has announced its TV, documentary and commercial award nominations for the 2025 DGA Awards.

Shogun, The Penguin and The Bear led the TV categories with three nods each, while other notable nominees included Ripley, Disclaimer, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Hacks, and The Diplomat. In the Variety/Talk/New/Sports categories, Real Time with Bill Maher, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Daily Show, Saturday Night Live and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver received nods.

Deal or No Deal Island, Gordon Ramsey: Uncharted, The Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show, American Ninja Warrior and Conan O’Brien Must Go were nominated in the reality TV category, while documentaries Porcelain War, Sugarcane, Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat, Hollywoodgate and Daughters received nominations.

The guild will reveal its theatrical feature film and first time feature film nominees on Wednesday.

The DGA also previously announced that Ang Lee would receive a lifetime achievement honor at the 77th annual DGA Awards.

The 2025 DGA Awards is set to take place on Saturday, Feb. 8 at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.
