Exclusive: “I Have Had It Much Easier Because of Where I Come From” – Shanaya Kapoor

Shanaya Kapoor is all set to mesmerise the audience with her upcoming debut film Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan. During an exclusive chat with Filmfare, the young actor spoke about the moments of anxiety and confusion when her film debut was stalled. For those unaware, the actress was supposed to make her debut with Bedhadak, opposite Lakshya and Gurfateh Pirzada. However, the debut got stalled, which made her wait for three years before the release of her latest movie.

Shanaya also candidly revealed that she acknowledges her privileges but that does not take away from the fact that she had to see the struggles of the industry. In the no holds barred conversation, she said, “Honestly, all I can say is that I’m happy that I went through the journey that I went through. I think that it’s made me the person I am today. I think it has somewhere, hopefully and fingers crossed, made me the artist that I am here today.”

She elaborated, “So I think it was all meant to happen.” Opening up about being from an illustrious family, Shanaya said, “I do understand that certain opportunities did come my way much easier compared to others. And I have had it much easier because of where I come from. I’m fully aware of that. But I have also seen the setbacks. I have also seen the unpredictability of our industry and the ups and the downs.”

Shanaya added, “And I think, obviously, at the time I was going through it, it was not easy. But looking back at it, I’m happy that that happened because it’s made me a far more responsible human being. It’s made me far more responsible as an artist. When I get a script, there’s so much more value to it. There’s so much more understanding to what I’m holding. I know that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I do not want to take it for granted. And I never would have. But having seen and gone through that for those couple of years before I’ve come here today for my promotions for my first film, it’s just made me value it a lot more. So, I just look back at it and I’m just thankful.”
